CIRCUIT has just published five new briefing papers, offering clear, accessible summaries of the project’s key deliverables to date. From a holistic circularity framework to a digital tool for scoring reusability and recyclability, these papers translate technical findings into practical takeaways for researchers, practitioners and policymakers across the transport infrastructure sector.
The five briefing papers now available are:
- Holistic Circularity Framework (D1.1): the first circularity framework designed specifically for transport infrastructure, built around four pillars (reuse, recyclability, energy efficiency, digitalisation) and tested across five pilot countries.
- Up-stream & Down-stream Supply Chain Actors Needs (D1.2): an evidence-based map of 47 barriers to circularity adoption, showing that regulatory compliance, not voluntary ESG commitment, is the sector’s strongest driver of change.
- Circularity Analytics Tool (CAT) (D1.3): a new software tool that calculates quantifiable circularity scores directly from BIM models, letting practitioners compare design alternatives before construction begins.
- Real-Time Traffic Management on Smart Mobility Systems (D2.4): a state of the art on ITS technologies, featuring a real-world case study of an automatic wrong-way vehicle detection system on the A-8 motorway in Cantabria, Spain.
- Manual for a Successful Deployment of GPP in CIRCUIT Pilots (D4.1): country-specific recommendations for embedding green criteria into public procurement, based on the experience of CIRCUIT’s five pilot projects.
Together, these papers illustrate how CIRCUIT is moving the transport infrastructure sector from a linear “take, make, dispose” model toward measurable, procurable circularity.
